West Cary Losing The Great Pumpkin Patch

As real estate agents, we’ve seen this coming for quite some time. The 80 acre Green Acres Farm, located on Morrisville Carpenter road between Davis and Louis Stephens drive, has finally sold for an astonishing $20 million to make room for Ashton Woods’ newest West Cary development. The Ferrell family, who has occupied the property since the early 1800’s, opened their gates to the public every fall and winter season for school field trips, birthday parties, pumpkin picking and corn maze fun; all while benefiting various charities like Make-a-Wish, Dorcast Ministries, and others. The 2017 town council rezoning of the land to allow residential building paved the way for Ashton Woods’ development plans which call for squeezing in 67 single-family homes and 239 townhomes on the 80 acre plot.

While we’re sad to see one of the last remaining farms in the area be rezoned for residential building, we’re happy to say that the Ferrell family plan on moving their farm to Apex and picking up right where they left off.
